How do I book?
You can book online or phone us. You will then receive a confirmation of your booking by post or email. Please check all details are correct.Can I extend my hire?
Yes, only if it the item is not already booked out. We cannot make any guarantees regarding availability. Payment for extensions will be allocated to your credit card. If a product is returned early, there is no refund. We will phone you 2-3 days before the nominated delivery date to organise a suitable time and place for pick up of your hire items.What if my baby is early?
If your baby comes earlier than expected, give us a call and we will supply you with an alternate carseat or capsule until your booked one is ready. Your hire dates will simply be changed to encompass the early arrival.
Payments
Is there a bond, and what are the conditions?
Yes, a bond is required for all hire equipment in the form of an unprocessed credit card imprint of $50 or $50 cash per item.
Home & Away Baby Hire will clean the hire products for you however, there may be a cleaning fee of $10 if our manager deems the item to be excessively dirty, has sand in it or stains on the fabric.
You need to return any accessories also to ensure the return of your bond.What if I lose some of the accessories?
We will charge you for the replacement of the accessoriesHow and when do I pay?
Payment is on delivery by cash, cheque or credit card.
Fitting and Installation
How do I install my car seat or capsule?
There are two options:
1. We are qualified child restraint fitters and can fit to your vehicle if required at a fee of $20 which includes any extra parts such as bolts or extension straps. Please have 2-3 towels on hand for our fitting requirements. Exceptions for fitment are when the vehicle may not have an anchor point to install the anchor bolt or if the seatbelts are not functional. We will then refer you to a qualified mechanic. We reserve the right to refuse fitment for any reason.
2. You may fit it yourself as per directions in the instruction booklet. If your car has anchorage points with anchor fittings, the car seat or capsule strap will hook directly onto it. The instruction booklet supplied explains how to install your car seat or capsule.
What if I need extension straps or a spare bolt?
Spare bolts and extension straps can be supplied if needed. There is no charge for short term hires (less than 2 months)
Safety
If I hire a car seat, how do I know it hasn’t been in a car crash?
Every car seat or capsule has a full history of every hire. Customers are required to sign a statement stating that it hasn’t been involved in a crash. We also carry out a safety check every time the car seat or capsule is cleaned.What happens if an item gets damaged?
We will charge you the replacement cost of the item. You may try to recoup this money from your insurance company.
We will either destroy the item or repair it before offering it for future rentals.What happens if the product is stolen?
If the product is stolen you will need to supply us with a written police report. If the product was not adequately secured in a locked vehicle or home, we will charge you the replacement cost of a new product. If you had taken adequate preventative measures, we will reissue you with a new product, however, you will not receive your bond.What happens if a car seat or capsule is in a crash whilst in my care?
If you are involved in any type of car accident, you need to inform us immediately. We will instantly replace your car seat or capsule with another. The car seat or capsule will then be assessed for damage by HABH head office and destroyed. You will not receive your bond.
